Smooth Sailing for America’s Cup Coverage

Valencia
, Spain- Over 100 television
networks across the world successfully delivered 2,500 hours worth of live
coverage during the 32nd

America’s
Cup. This massive production was anchored by 2007 world feed host, 3G Wireless,
LLC., who employed Nucomm’s digital microwave systems to ensure steady and
uninterrupted content to viewers spanning 150 countries.

In
covering the 2 race courses, 3G Wireless installed 25 Nucomm Campac2
transmitters over land and sea. The configuration included installation in two
helicopters, two chase boats, 12 yachts and three RIB (Rubber Inflatable)
boats. In addition, there was one wireless camera and two handheld. This
arrangement delivered a seamless production with “no picture break up,” and was
accomplished through the delivery of all 25 signals in a multichannel
environment, much of it over water, without any interference.

This
year’s

America’s
Cup marked 3G Wireless’ first time using Nucomm as the exclusive equipment
provider for the event, an experience that 3G Wireless president Greg Robinson
says proved highly efficient. “The biggest technological advantage in
using the Nucomm transmitters was that they were packaged with the Nucomm
four-way diversity input receivers, which allowed us to secure a much higher
coverage percentage in terms of reliability and reception.”

Producing
nearly 100% live coverage of the event, Robinson adds, “This was the most
successful

America’s
Cup coverage to date. I don’t believe any other microwave system could have
provided us with the type of exceptional reliability that Nucomm offers.”

3G Wireless
is a premier provider of wireless video and audio coverage for all areas of
