Columbia College Chicago Adds EVS LSM to Broadcast Degree Program

Chicago, the largest and most diverse private college of fine, performing, and
media arts in the

United
States, recently added EVS’ renowned Live
Slow Motion system to the list of equipment going into its new Media Production
Truck, a state-of-the-art mobile teaching unit.

“We
are excited about the opportunity to begin a relationship with
EVS,” said Michael Niederman, Chair of the Television Department at

Columbia. “It
is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be exposed to this kind of
industry-leading equipment.”

The LSM
system was the very first innovation from EVS, and is now the standard in slow
motion technology worldwide.
Columbia’s
LSM will be used by students to broadcast live events across

Chicago, which will give students the
opportunity to learn to use such an essential live broadcasting tool.

According
to Fred Garroy, General Manager of EVS Americas, training on EVS equipment is
in high demand. “Production companies have encouraged

Columbia and other
institutions to provide this kind of training,” he said. “With
more and more EVS systems being installed in the field, hands-on training is
necessary to keep up with the demand. Now students have the option of
learning through practical experience as part of their college degree, before
they hit the professional world.”

“EVS equipment is widely-used in the
broadcasting profession,” agreed Niederman. “It is essential that
qualified professionals in the industry understand how to use it. By providing
our students experience with a system they are actually going to encounter in the
field, we are not only fulfilling our promise to educate them, but giving them
a leg up in their job searches after school as well.”
