Daktronics Chosen for New Facility at University of Tennessee

When the
new Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatics Center opens for the University of
Tennessee Swimming and Diving program, it will not only feature one of the
finest facilities, but also one of the most complete scoring, timing and video
systems in the nation. The new system designed and manufactured by Daktronics
Inc. of

Brookings,

S.D., will provide precise timing
and incorporate one of the largest video displays in any collegiate aquatics
center.

Tennessee Executive Associate Athletic Director.
“The size of the new video screen will be one of the largest in any
collegiate facility in the nation. We are looking forward to the endless
opportunities the video will provide us in displaying results, records and
replays. Couple that with the timing system and the relay take off platforms
and we have tremendous advantage to hold first class events.”

Fans
within the new facility will be greeted by a large Daktronics LED video display
measuring approximately 12 feet high by 41 feet wide. Daktronics HD-ready
video systems use the latest in red, green and blue (RGB) light emitting diode
(LED) technology to present live and recorded video images, colorful animation
and vivid graphics with incredible brightness and wide-angle visibility.

Daktronics
will ensure precise and accurate timing of events with the combination of Relay
Take Off Platforms (RTOPs), OmniSport timing system and Daktronics patented
touchpads. Together the combination provides consistent results as proven at
the 2007 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships, the Big 12 Conference
Championships and the Division III Championships.

Daktronics
relay take off platforms will ensure reliable timing based on new technology recently
approved by the NCAA Division I Swimming Championship Committee. Daktronics
relay take off platforms detect the split second a swimmer loses contact with
the platform during a relay exchange. Daktronics RTOPs are not dependent on the
weight of the athlete, the style of start, or variations with blocks. Athletes
are given the benefit of the doubt by not triggering the timing system until
there is absolutely no contact with the platform.

Daktronics
patented touchpads are constructed of stainless steel providing reliable
service that will not crack, warp or leak. The touchpads are highly sensitive
across the entire nonslip surface and fill with water to equalize internal and
external pressure.

In
addition, the OmniSport 2000 timing console provides 1/1000th of a second
accuracy and advanced features needed at high level competitions. The console
is versatile, easy to use and affordable.

will also see the addition of pace
clocks, portable pace clocks, and several horn start systems.

The
overall aquatics system will be controlled by the proven Venus 7000
controller, V-Link video processor, V-Play controller, OmniSport 2000 timing
console and All Sport controller.

Daktronics
will also move the existing LED video display from the old aquatics center to
the new

Allan

Jones

Center.
The existing video display will be used primarily for diving and will operate
in conjunction with the new video display in the

Allan

Jones

Center.
