Newtek taps Messana for Latin American sales

NewTek has named Ralph Messana, a die-hard video guy whose digital video
experience dates back to the days of
Rain Man and
Coming to America, has been
named Director of Latin American Sales. Messana will guide sales and distribution
efforts as NewTek expands into both the Latin American and Caribbean markets.

Since joining NewTek in 1997, Messana has leveraged his experience and enthusiasm
for video and graphics into continued growth for NewTek. Along with his twenty-plus
years of video production experience, Messana brings fluent Spanish, an instant
rapport with resellers and customers to deliver dynamic demos in the language
of his audience to his new position created in August when NewTek elevated
Latin America and the Caribbean to its own sales division.

“ Led by Ralph, with his unique talents in sales and marketing, his
ability as a demo artist, his experience with the culture and his
understanding of the video production needs of this audience, we have
every confidence that NewTek will capitalize on the huge opportunity
Latin America represents,” said Jim Plant, NewTek’s president and CEO.
“We look forward to continuing our aggressive push and success in this
important market. ”

As the director of resellers and inside sales representatives, Messana said
his goal is to educate and give insight to both resellers and customers alike
so that each can see and get excited about how NewTek products work for the
everyday man and the hard core user.

I have a unique perspective for this job,” Messana said. “With my
user knowledge of NewTek products, as well as being a NewTek reseller, I feel
that we will be able to support Latin America and the Caribbean like never
before.”

Messana has been involved with digital video since 1988, with production
experience as both freelance producer and consultant. Messana first
joined NewTek in 1997 as an east coast sales representative. He left NewTek
in 2002 to co-found TMG Productions with Don Ballance, where they
became
widely known
as the “Toasterdudes”. TMG developed 3D Arsenal, a 3D graphics
product specially targeted for video editors. NewTek acquired TMG Productions
in January 2006, bringing Messana and Ballance back into the fold, along
with their now-famous 3D Arsenal franchise. Messana has also served NewTek
as Director
of Sales and a Product Manager.
