EBU Sports Division chooses QuStream for HD routing

QuStream
Corporation announces that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has invested
in a QuStream Cheetah high-definition digital video routing system for its
Sports Division.

“The system chosen consists of a Cheetah CX primary chassis with 256 x 256
crosspoints plus a secondary chassis into which we can transfer up to 128 x 128
crosspoints in whatever configuration is required for specific outside
broadcast or mobile recording activity,” explains (Javier Polo, Head Technical Operations, EBU Sports). “It is fully compatible
with our existing QuStream PESA SD router and control panel and gives us the
facilities we need to route in high resolution definition, standard resolution
definition and mixed hybrid mode. The new router was tested at the Pan American Games in Rio and the World Cup Rugby
in

Paris. It is
easy to use and fully transparent in operation. The dual-chassis arrangement we
ordered gives us all the routing facilities we require to cover major
on-location events such as the impending Beijing Olympics.”

QuStream’s Cheetah CX series enables up to 256X256 to be housed in 18 U. The
448CX Flexi-Frame supports 256X448, 320X384, and 512X256 in 27 U. Rounding out
the series is the 512CX offering 512X512 or 1024X256 in 41 U. Most CX Series
frames accept QuStream’s full range of output options including output
monitoring. CX Series flexi-frames are designed for use in mobile trucks where compactness
and the router’s non-square architecture allows the best advantage for
cost-efficiency and space-savings. QuStream’s Cheetah range of routers also
includes the XR, WE, XE and NE series which match a variety of scales and
applications.
