The Miami Dolphins are lacking offense on football field this season but their broadcast operations are scoring touchdowns. The Miami franchise has been total HD since July, 2006 and this year they added two JVC GY-HD250 cameras to their in-studio configuration.
The cameras are used to capture the Dolphins ‘Game Day Live’ show. The two hour pre game show airs on the Dolphin Stadium’s Daktronics video board, on 2,000 TV monitors and on the team website. “We are a pioneer in Miami,” says Jeff Griffith, Broadcast Director for the Miami Dolphins.
Combined with the two JVC’s ProHD 100 wireless cameras used to capture fan action out in the parking lots the Dolphins run a fluent HD broadcast. “The JVC cameras provide a price performance and reliability,” adds Griffith.
The JVC’s ProHD 100 cameras have been in use since last season and were also in use during Super Bowl XXXXI. The Dolphins also use JVC’s DM-JV600 video encoders to provide 720p HD video to the internal TV network over 850 video monitors in the stadium.
The Dolphins will look to get more storage for their archives next season. While the Dolphins send out HD they await the TV networks to tag along. “It is weird that we are ahead of the broadcast networks.”
