Tom Petty to play Super Bowl halftime show

The

U.S.
rock and roll band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are set to perform at the
upcoming “Bridgestone Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show” on FOX.

The band is slated to appear on the show on Feb. 3 at the

University
of

Phoenix Stadium in

Arizona, the NFL
announced.

Nearly 140 million viewers in the

United States watched last year’s
halftime show. This year’s game and halftime show will be broadcast in more
than 230 countries and territories.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released their debut album in 1976 and have
since sold more than 50 million records.

Their songs include: “Free Fallin’,” “Breakdown,”
“Refugee,” “I Won’t Back Down,” “Mary Jane’s Last
Dance,” “American Girl,” “Don’t Come Around Here No
More,” “The Waiting,” “You Don’t Know How It Feels”
and “Runnin’ Down A Dream.”

Other recent halftime acts have included the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and
Prince.
