Eyeheight announces safeEyes4:4:4 safe-area generator
major new addition to the Eyeheight range of modular broadcast and digital cine
origination equipment, safeEyes4:4:4 is a versatile multi-definition safe-area
generator supporting 2048 x 1080 ‘digital film’ as well as 1920 x 1080 line
HDTV source resolution. It enables HD program-originators, digital
cinematographers and post production editors to ensure that titles, action,
graphics, credits and other essential content are held close to the centre of
the transmitted image regardless of the screen size or shape used by the
safeEyes4:4:4 provides dual-link support for 720, 1080 and the 2K variant of
1080 at 10 bit 4:4:4:4/12 bit 4:4:4 and for 100%/200%/400% dynamic ranges.
Single-link support is also provided for 480i, 576i, 720p, 1080p and the 2k
variant of 1080. It also responds to SMPTE 352 video payload identifiers.
User-configurable safe-action and safe-title guides can be superimposed on the
output to a preview monitor. These include short-screen and full-screen centre markers,
movable horizontal and vertical cursors, edge blanking lines and an
operator-definable aspect-ratio box. Preset aspect ratios for all common film
and television formats down to 4:3 can be switch-selected.
Based on Eyeheight’s compact half-U-width evolutionDT platform, safeEyes4:4:4
automatically senses and adapts to the incoming signal format. It can be used
conveniently as a free-standing or rack-mounting instrument on location, in a
mobile production vehicle, as part of an editing workstation or in a mainstream
