Gepco Cables installed in new Sweetwater HD truck

Gepco
cables are
helping Sweetwater Digital Productions expand its remote HD production options
as it adds a second HD production truck to its fleet. Sweetwater’s newest HD
truck, named Cobalt, is using Gepco cables for both its audio and video
needs.
Sweetwater provides video
production trucks, custom control rooms, display technology, camera systems and
flypacks to some of the industry’s leading producers of television shows,
commercials, live special events, corporate shows, meetings, conventions and
motion pictures. With their trucks being used on high-profile projects,
performance is critical when equipment and connectivity solutions need to be
installed. When selecting a cable and interconnect manufacturer, Sweetwater
wanted quality customer service, convenience and a quick turnaround to keep
construction on schedule. Gepco’s performance, combined with its
excellent customer service, made it the top choice for the project.
“We’ve had a long-standing
relationship with Gepco and have used its cables for years,” said Mark Hale,
Chief Engineer of Sweetwater. “It’s nice to be able to call and drive to
Gepco’s Burbank
location and be confident that our order was fulfilled correctly and in a
timely manner. In addition to the convenience and speedy turnaround, the cables
provide consistent performance — even in the harsh remote environments our
trucks often face.”
The list of cables Gepco
supplied includes: VDM230 miniature HD coax, VPM2000 RG59 HD digital coax,
VS5230 video snake, DS4 and DS6 series digital audio multi-pair cables, and
GA724 series multi-pair audio cables. In addition to cable, Gepco also
supplied connectors from Kings, Calrad, Canare and AIM for both the audio and
video connectivity.
Gepco also provided all
the hybrid connectivity for the truck with GHF92A hybrid fiber SMPTE camera
cables. These cables are being used in the new 53-foot expando truck as
interconnectivity solutions for its Sony HDC1500L High Definition Cameras.
Additional audio and video equipment installed in Cobalt include a Grass Valley
Kalypso Duo Switcher and a Studer Vista 8 Audio Console. The truck will be used
for HD remote productions such as on-location shoots for TV and film as well as
live event coverage.
