Al-Watan goes tapeless with Dalet News Suite
Story Highlights
Al-Watan Television has
chosen Dalet Digital Media Systems, Dalet News Suite as its tapeless newsroom
and production system. The station launched September last year as the first
tapeless HD channels in the region Al WATAN AND AL WATAN PLUS.
“Al-Watan will the first tapeless HD channel in Kuwait and it was essential that we
opt for a flexible digital newsroom computer system that can help us provide
the best news coverage to our Kuwaiti viewers,” explains Mr. Ihab El Baba CTO
of Al-Watan TV. “With Dalet News Suite, we will be able to combine the
flexibility of our Apple Final Cut Pro edit suites with the reliability of our Omneon play-out servers.”
“We are truly honored by Al-Watan’s choice,” says Mr. St phane Schlayen, Chief
Operating Officer of Dalet. “It not only proves the unique potential that Dalet
News Suite brings to newscasters, but also demonstrates our increasing success
and commitment to servicing Middle-East broadcasters”.
Nearly twenty Dalet workstations will be deployed at Al-Watan TV. The Dalet
News Suite platform will provide a fully integrated newsroom and tapeless news
production system. From their Dalet News Suite workstations, journalists and
producers will consult incoming agency wire stories, browse available video
feeds, script rundowns and make shot selections. HD packages will be put together using a combination of Dalet
and Apple Final Cut Pro editing tools. Gallery automation will be streamlined
thanks to Dalet News Suite native integration with Omneon playout servers and a
Dalet MOS gateway to a WASP3D template-based, real-time CG engine.
