PGA Tour adds 11 Diamond Vision Scoreboards

Mitsubishi Electric supplied the PGA Tour with 11 Diamond Vision LED
scoreboards for their events in the coming year. Diamond Vision
scoreboards debuted on the
green at THE PLAYERS Championship in May 2007. The PGA Tour originally
had 11
incremental boards. The new boards are phase two of the installation
process.
“We chose Mitsubishi Diamond Vision video boards for their
8mm pixel ratio,” says Steve Evans, senior vp of information systems for the
PGA Tour.
The video boards’ technology is tied to the PGA Tour’s
ShotLink scoring system. The scoreboard displays stats including distance to
the pin biographical info of players and past winners, players sharing the same
green, as well as leader boards, and scoring statistics such as shot yardages.
The PGA Tour will use the additional 11 scoreboards on the Sony
Open in
Hawaii,
the Mercedes-Benz Championship, and the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, and the boards
will be on the green when the Viking Classic is played opposite the Ryder Cup.
“Mitsubishi was the choice because of their longevity,” adds Evans.
