Coppin State University Tags Daktronics for Campus-wide Scoreboard Upgrades

Coppin
State University of Baltimore, Md., has selected Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D. to design and manufacture numerous integrated
light emitting diode (LED) scoreboards and message centers as part of a $99
million new Physical Education Complex (PEC) Project facilities upgrade. The
facilities upgrade is a combined venture with Coppin State
University and the Maryland
Stadium Authority with Gilbane/Banks serving as Construction Manager.

Daktronics
will provide a four-sided centerhung basketball scoreboard with message centers
for its 4,100 seat basketball arena. The Daktronics AF-3700 (LED) message
centers, in seven feet high by eight feet wide configurations on each side of
the centerhung, are capable of displaying text, graphics and animation. These
displays have a modular design with many different matrix sizes and configurations available.
Each side of the centerhung scoreboard features seven-segment LED digit
basketball scoreboards to show team scores, period time, player number and
fouls, and team fouls.

“Daktronics
was the only source that could provide the comprehensive line of products and
services that we needed. We look forward to working with Daktronics as the PEC
becomes a major part of campus,” said Dr. Mary Wanza, administrator of
athletics at Coppin
State University.

The PEC
will also feature an NCAA-regulation pool with spectator seating. For those
fans and participants, a Daktronics eight-lane LED scoring and timing system
with auxiliary LED displays will show competitor times, Home and Guest scores
and heat and event numbers. Daktronics aquatics equipment is controlled by the
proven OmniSport timing controller which meets NFHS,
USA Swimming,
NCAA and FINA requirements.

Daktronics
will also manufacture LED scoreboards for the new soccer and softball fields,
tennis courts and outdoor track. Each will have Home and Guest scores and
varying statistical and timing features.

All
displays, besides aquatics, will be controlled through the proven All Sport controller.
LED technology has an extended life cycle, high visibility, low power consumption,
requires minimal maintenance and is very cost efficient.

A capital (uppercase) letter

A number

Minimum 8 characters
