Leader Test Gear Heading to Beijing Games
received a major order for LV5800 modular multi-monitor test equipment to be
used to check the quality of all outgoing broadcast video feeds from the
Beijing 2008 Games which will be held at multiple venues from Friday August 8
through to the concluding ceremony on Sunday August 24.
“The Beijing 2008 Games will be one of the largest sports events ever
held,” comments Paul Vos, Managing Director of elQuip BV, Broadcast Master
Distributor for Leader Electronics Corporation in Europe.
“More importantly, this year’s games will be the first in the event’s
history to be televised entirely in high definition and are expected to attract
over 4 billion viewers, many watching on large widescreen flat-panel LCD and
plasma displays. The LV5800 instruments will be used to ensure that all signals
transmitted from the event are of high signal quality and consistent
Leader’s LV5800 modular multi-monitor platform enables broadcasters and
facility supervisors to define an SDI/HD-SDI signal analyser that meets their
current requirements while allowing easy future expansion. Twin auto-detecting
inputs make the LV5800 compliant with all HD-SDI and SD-SDI standards,
including 3 gigabit/s 1080p/50. Four SDI or HD-SDI sources can be viewed
simultaneously, reducing the time required to compare incoming signal feeds and
greatly simplifying the task of identifying a defective signal or channel.
A standard USB memory can be used to capture screen images and configuration
settings from the LV5800 as well as for delivering software and firmware updates.
The LV5800 also provides powerful detection facilities including freeze frame,
colour bar, mute and tone audio. Additional features include signal status, ANC
data monitoring, error monitoring and digital line-select, precise digital
cursors, menu control of storage of 50 front-panel setups, and Ethernet access.
