Breakfast at Wimbledon Ratings Highest in Eight Years

NBC Sports’ “Breakfast at Wimbledon” coverage of the epic Gentlemen’s
Final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal (9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. ET)
earned the best overnight rating for a Gentlemen’s Final in eight
years, a 4.6 rating and a 12 share, an increase of 44 percent over last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The rating peaked at a 6.5/15 from 4-4:30 p.m. ET. The 4.6/12 is the
best overnight for a final involving two non-U.S. players since 1991
(Boris Becker-Michael Stich, 5.0/17). Despite the 9 a.m. ET start time,
Wimbledon was the highest-rated, non-primetime sports program of the
weekend.

Saturday’s “Breakfast at Wimbledon” coverage of the Ladies’ Final
between Venus Williams and Serena Williams (9 a.m.-2 p.m. ET), won by
Venus in straight sets in two hours, earned the best rating for a
Ladies Final since 2005 with a 3.4 overnight rating and a 10 share
(Venus Williams-Lindsay Davenport, 4.0/12 in 2005) and showed an
increase of 21 percent over last year (Venus Williams-Marion Bartoli,
2.8/8).
