Daktronics Chosen for New Tulsa Events Center
Story Highlights
The City
of Tulsa, OK
, has chosen Daktronics Inc. to design, manufacture
and install an integrated scoring and video display system for the new Tulsa Events
Center. The integrated
system will be installed and operational for the opening of the venue,
scheduled for the fall of 2008.
“We are pleased to make
this announcement in conjunction with Daktronics,” said Bart Boatright, Project
Director of Tulsa Vision Builders. “Daktronics was selected after careful study
and review through a formal and detailed bid process. The company’s extensive
experience, proven product technologies, ongoing service capabilities and
competitive price made Daktronics the best value for the new venue.”
Daktronics will build eight individual displays located at the top of a center-hung
scoreboard. These eight displays, four measuring approximately 8 feet high by
14 feet wide and four measuring approximately 8 feet high by 8 feet wide, will
present live video, replays and
statistical information.
The remainder of the centerhung display will be
comprised of two individual rings of LED video technology. One of these rings
is approximately nine feet tall by 25 feet in diameter and will be the first of
its kind to be featured on a center-hung display. These rings will enable the
event center to inform and entertain fans with more game-in-progress
information, statistics, sponsor promotions, cropped video clips, animations,
graphics and advertisements. The centerhung display will measure approximately
30 feet high by 33 feet wide and will be equal in capabilities to the latest
systems in NBA and NHL facilities. The City of Tulsa
partnered with the Williams Companies as its scoreboard sponsor to bring this
level of technology not typically found in a minor league venue to the BOK Center.
A large, 360 degree LED
ribbon board will encircle the arena and measuring more than 920 feet in
circumference. Daktronics ProAd LED fascia display technology will
offer complete flexibility to add entertainment value and raise the crowd’s
enthusiasm level.
“Sports fans and patrons
of entertainment events who visit the new Tulsa arena will experience a great
venue with all the amenities, including a state-of-the-art, integrated video
display system that will be among the very best in the land,” says Perry Grave,
Daktronics Regional Sales. “The unique centerhung scoreboard will incorporate
millions of individual light emitting diodes in 10 large screens, providing an
enlightening and entertaining experience. The 360-degree ribbon display will
surround fans and, combined with the centerhung scoreboard and other
components, will help create the atmosphere appropriate to any event.”
Patrons to the new event center
will be greeted outside by a marquee display featuring two Daktronics LED video
displays. The displays, measuring approximately 6 feet high by 11 feet wide,
will inform patrons of upcoming events with video images and eye-catching
graphics and animations.
