Appalachian State, Texas Christian To Install Daktronics Video and Scoring Systems

Daktronics has been chosen to design, manufacture, and install a video display featuring its HD-X technology in Amon G. Carter Stadium on
Texas
Christian
University’s campus in
Fort Worth, and new integrated video and scoring display systems for Appalachian State University (ASU) in
Boone,
N.C.
Kidd Brewer Stadium and
Holmes
Convocation
Center, respective homes of ASU football and basketball, will incorporate multiple Daktronics video displays. The Mountaineers will start the football season under the glow of a 17-foot-high by 38-foot-wide system using Daktronics light-emitting-diode (LED) technology.
Holmes
Convocation
Center is being upgraded with digital LED scorer’s tables, with four sections of Daktronics video technology. These tables will allow ASU to clearly and easily showcase game stats and fan entertainment and sponsor information. The court-level system will measure approximately 3 feet high by 38 feet wide.
Both systems are part of a campus-wide enhancement plan initiated for ASU athletics facilities last winter.
In
Fort Worth, home of the TCU Horned Frogs, the current football scoring system, which includes an older-model Daktronics video display, was installed in 2002. The new setup will use exclusive Daktronics HD-X light LED technology and will increase overall picture resolution and quality by reducing pixel line spacing from 23 to 12 mm.
The video display will measure about 17 feet high by 30 feet wide and will include a feature not commonly seen in the sports-video market: the system will be modular, allowing the display to be removed and reinstalled if needed. A rental company has already signed on to use the screen once the football season is over.
