SSL Expands Video Division With Key U.S. Hires

At IBC,
Solid State Logic (SSL) made two key
U.S.
appointments to support burgeoning commercial interest following the
introduction of SSL’s Gravity MediaWAN technology.
Joe Walsh
has been appointed VP, sales, Media Production Systems, and Shaun
McTernan joins as product manager, Media Production Systems.
Both appointments, effective immediately, are designed to take advantage of
heightened interest following Gravity’s successful installation at NNS (Network
News Services) in
New York.
Walsh
joins SSL from Focus Enhancements based in
Campbell,
CA, where he was VP, Channel
Sales, for the supplier of video products and asset-management systems for
digital-media markets. Previously, he was with Pinnacle Systems and
Ciprico. In his new role, Walsh will lead and manage all aspects of SSL sales
activities for North and South America,
including key account handling and sales-channel development.
McTernan
also joins SSL from Focus Enhancements, where he was VP, Enterprise Solutions,
chiefly responsible for major, complex sales of digital signage and
asset-management solutions. McTernan will now focus on creating a rapid growth
platform for SSL’s MediaWAN technologies.
Welcoming
the pair to the company, SSL managing director Antony David said, “Our video
business is entering a very exciting and dynamic phase. The addition of Joe and
Shaun will accelerate the already robust interest in our MediaWAN technology.
They have extensive — and
highly successful
— track records in their respective careers, and I am delighted
to welcome them to Solid State Logic. We look forward to their contributions to
the growing team as we extend the reach of Gravity’s broad range of benefits in
the broadcast marketplace and beyond.”
