NBA Reaches Out to Mobile Users Via Zed

By Andrew Lippe

The NBA is expanding its mobile offerings this season thanks to Zed, a mobile handset technology provider that will deliver NBA content including video highlights, wallpapers and ringtones to fans in the U.S. and beyond.

“The NBA, like many other leagues, was searching for the Holy Grail on how to monitor content beyond the U.S. markets,” says Miguel López Quesada, general manager of corporate communications & institutional affairs of Zed Group. “We saw the interest in the NBA to go global.”

The subscription service will become available on TMobile when the regular season begins on Oct. 28. Fans will have an array of options, including access to NBA statistics, creating blogs, joining community platforms as well as have access to handheld videogames based on the NBA franchise games.

“The NBA has a lot of players from Europe and Asia and that brings loyalty and excitement into those markets,” adds Quesada.
