Judi Cordray Named VP, ESPN’s Los Angeles Production Center

Judi Cordray has joined ESPN as the VP in charge of ESPN’s new Los Angeles Production Center, which will launch in April. Cordray comes to ESPN from the Disney ABC Media Networks Group, where she was VP, BO&E West Coast operations, overseeing the engineering and IT staff, daytime studio, master-control, and media-center operations.
Prior to her role with BO&E, Cordray served as general manager of ENG (electronic newsgathering) Operations for ABC News, Western Region, overseeing multiple bureaus. From conventions to celebrity trials, she played a key role in production planning and facilities coordination of studio and remote operations, serving all platforms of ABC News.
In her ESPN role, Cordray will oversee all the day-to-day operations of the new Los Angeles facility, support all programming produced in it or remote traffic routed through it, and serve as ESPN’s most senior representative in the Los Angeles production community.
“Judi is a great addition to the ESPN team, and her extensive background at the Disney/ABC Media Networks Group is a great benefit to us,” says Steve Anderson, EVP, news, talent & content operations. “She will be a key player not only in launching this new production center but also in driving its continued growth over the years.”
Cordray will report to Anderson.
The new Los Angeles Production Center will feature three production-control rooms, two master-control rooms, eight craft edit suites, a music room, a voiceover room, and two studios totaling more than 12,300 square feet. In addition to ESPN content originating from this facility, the 1 a.m. ET SportsCenter will be produced from Los Angeles five days a week beginning in April.
