XOS Taps Digital-Video Veterans To Lead Engineering Team

XOS Technologies has made two additions to its senior management team with the appointment of Pete Balkus as SVP of development and Steve Quinn as chief technology officer.
“Both Pete and Steve bring important leadership, management, and technical skills to the table,” says XOS Technologies president Bob Simmons. “The wide variety of experience they possess will be important as we move forward with the launch of our next generation of coaching solutions and other innovative products.”
Balkus, who most recently served as VP of product development for the Media Division at WSI Corp., has more than two decades of experience in system engineering/networking, product development, and program management. In addition to his position at WSI, Balkus has held management positions with Avid Technology, Pinnacle Systems, and PictureTel Corp.
Quinn joins XOS from Avid Technology, where he most recently served as senior director of architecture and design and chief architect for the video division. He has also been acting director of Avid’s Storage Software Engineering unit since June. Quinn has worked in the broadcast division of Pinnacle Systems and for Avid Sports. While at Avid Sports, he was integral to the system-architecture and -design efforts for the company’s first application, Sports Pro, and the video-analysis network. He is widely known as an industry expert in the area of network architecture, scalability, and performance.
“XOS has a proud tradition as the leading video editing and data analysis software provider in the sports industry,” Simmons adds. “Having Pete and Steve leading our engineering team illustrates our commitment to continuing to grow and expand the capabilities of our products and to provide our clients with new and innovative solutions.”
