Harris Corporation to Speak at DTV National Convention

At the
Community Broadcasters Association’s 2008 DTV National Convention, Harris
Corporation will present new business models for low-power television (LPTV)
and Class A broadcasters making the transition to DTV. The presentation led by Brian Cabeceiras, vice president of strategic marketing and technology,
and Jay Adrick, vice president of broadcast technology will also detail how
community broadcasters can take advantage of the new revenue streams offered by
mobile DTV.
During
the 45-minute Harris presentation titled “Monetizing Digital Spectrum,”
Cabeceiras will provide an overview of DTV industry standardization, the
digital ATSC plant, and multichannel considerations. He will also give an
update on the Mobile Pedestrian Handheld (MPH) standard endorsed by the Open
Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC) and Advanced Television Standards Committee
(ATSC), Single-Frequency Networks (SFNs), and illustrative ROI (Return on
Investment) models. In the second half of the session, Adrick will delve
deeper into the business model and revenue opportunities that mobile DTV offers
the LPTV and Class A community as it transitions to DTV.
“LPTV and
Class A broadcasters are actively seeking DTV business models and strategies
that can support and sustain their transition to DTV,” said Cabeceiras.
“During our presentation, we will show a family of products that can enable a
cost-effective, seamless transition from analog TV to DTV and mobile
broadcasting. We will also introduce plans that Harris has available to
help LPTV and Class A broadcasters spread costs over time to match the growth
of their revenue.”
Harris
