In Letter, Goodell Blames Cable Operators for Impasse

NFL Commissioner Roger Roger Goodell reiterated the league’s position that it was trying to broadcast games
to a national audience, and said that the cable television operators
Comcast and Time Warner were obstructing it from doing so by refusing
to carry the channel on the basic tier, the New York Times reports.

The league and the country’s biggest cable TV operators have long
battled over the availability of the NFL Network. Comcast has placed
the NFL Network on its premium sports tier. Time Warner, Cablevision
and Charter do not carry the network.
