QuStream to Launch Quadbox at GV Expo 2008

QuStream will launch the QFX Quadbox range of fiber-extender modules and showcase its range of routers, signal-processing, conversion, and distribution products at Government Video Technology Expo 2008 in Washington Dec. 3-4.
QuStream’s QFX QuadBox is part of the newly developed QFX fiber-extender series. QFX Quadbox modules are copper-to-fiber conversion modules that provide increased port density and total-routing-system cost savings. The modules support up to four SDI, HD-SDI or 3G-SDI signals using a 3-Gbps optical transport per fiber port. Using two SFP duplex small-form-factor pluggable modules, these units offer broadcast-quality coaxato-fiber transmission paths in a single box or optional 1RU frame setup. The QFX Quadbox is compliant with SMPTE 259M, 292M, 372M, and 424M, ensuring highly flexible and reliable media conversion for any application.
“The QuadBox is the perfect low-cost module for sports venues where multiple HD cameras or display feeds run longer than 100 m,” says Dan Holland, QuadBox product manager. “By using either single-mode or multimode fiber cabling, the QuadBox module provides a much simpler solution to distribute HD-SDI or 3G-SDI signals up to 10 km and without the need for signal boosters. Quadbox can be used as a point-to-point signal-distribution box for up to four channels, as a dual 1×2 DA box, or as a two-channel Dual-Link HD-SDI signal extender. The small-form-factor module with its optional rack-mount kit or unit mounting plate can be placed practically anywhere in the field, making it an extremely flexible signal-extender module.”
Among the other products on display will be QuStream’s Cheetah series, which offers integrated solutions for fiber, CWDM mux/demux, and HD-to-SD downconversion. With more than 15 frame types, the Cheetah series offers an unlimited number of signal formats and I/O size combinations. Sizes range from 64×64 up to 1024×1024. The Cheetah series, with up to 3-Gbps processing, enables broadcasters to cost-effectively embrace 1080p as a worldwide mastering format.
