Ross CrossOver Production Switcher Fits Tight Spaces, Budgets

Sports production companies looking for a production switcher designed to fit in a space-constrained environment have a new option has Ross Video is now shipping CrossOver, a new series of compact production switchers.

Introduced at IBC in Amsterdam, applications for CrossOver include small studios, edit suites, OB vans, master control branding, and live mixing to on-set monitors. CrossOver also performs exceptionally well as a backup switcher for a large production switcher. The fact that it offers a separate control panel and chassis makes it easy to install in professional environments.

“After a very successful IBC launch, we are shipping CrossOver right on

schedule, as promised,” says David Ross, CEO. “CrossOver is a powerful

yet compact switcher that offers an impressive feature set all at an

affordable price.”
CrossOver is loaded with features specific to sports.

“CrossOver is the best production switcher in its class for sports applications,” Ross says. “There are three auxiliary bus outputs for feeding multiple zones, separate screens, or camera return video. CrossOver has combined up- and downstream key insertion to be able to get the keys on and off the air instantly and in any combination.”
CrossOver is equipped with a preview output, so that the TD can preview content before taking it live, and Recall to Preview allows memories to be recalled to the preview output. The direct memory access keypad allows single button, instant memory recalls.
“The redundant power option is a critical feature in a live sports environment,” Ross says. “There is a built-in reference generator with time-able outputs, allowing external sources (like a mobile truck) to be easily timed in to the system. We ported our high-end UltraChrome Chroma

Keyer into CrossOver, which provides impeccable keying, great for your

half-time show.”
CrossOver comes equipped with 12 HD-SDI inputs standard as well as up- and down-scaling to integrate SD sources into an HD production and vice-versa.
“The 2D DVE and built-in animation stores provide production sizzle and are perfect for replay and transition effects,” Ross says. “Now that CrossOver is shipping, we are excited to begin seeing the amazing things customers will do with it.”

CrossOver comes in four configurations. The CrossOver 6 supports six

multi-definition inputs, two keyers and has six source selection buttons. The CrossOver 12 supports 12 MD inputs, three keyers and has 10 source selection buttons as well as a rugged positioner. The CrossOver SD versions offer similar capability to the HD versions. Ross Video also offers an MD upgrade migration path for the SD models.

All models feature an industry standard user interface, UltraChrome chroma keyer, dual animation stores, two 2D DVEs, four up/down converters, a down-converted analog program output, three SDI outputs, three AUX outputs all packaged into a compact two RU chassis.

CrossOver is also available as a component of EditSet.HD, the award-winning high definition linear editing solution put together by Editware, Renegade Labs, and Ross Video.
