Comcast SportsNet Names Stephanie Smith Senior VP of Strategic Marketing

Stephanie
Lafair Smith has been named to the newly created position of senior
vice president of strategic marketing for the Comcast Sports Group.
Currently
president of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, one of Comcast Sports
Group’s 10 sports networks, she begins her new position on Jan. 5.

the rapid growth of our networks into additional markets and onto
emerging platforms, Comcast Sports Group has the opportunity to deepen
the connection between our networks and the passionate fans we serve,”
says Comcast Sports Group President Jon Litner. “Stephanie’s experience
as a network operator, a marketing professional, and a creative leader
make her uniquely suited for this new challenge
Smith
joined Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia prior to the network’s launch in
1997 to lead the marketing and branding efforts and was subsequently
promoted to VP/GM, then to president. Under her leadership, Comcast
SportsNet Philadelphia has been recognized with 62 regional Emmy Awards
for its programming excellence.
Prior to joining Comcast SportsNet, she served as a marketing and business-development executive for Philadelphia Magazine.
She
has twice been named to CableFax magazine’s list of the most powerful
women in the cable industry and Main Line Life’s “Women to Watch” list.
She serves on the board of the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia
and the Philadelphia chapter of the Ronald McDonald House and is active
in the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer and the American
Heart Association’s Home Run for Hearts. She lives in Radnor, PA, with
her husband and their daughter.
Comcast Sports Group will conduct a search for her replacement at Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.
