Fordham Lights Up Sports Business Development for Telecast Fiber

Darren Fordham, formerly of Wohler Technologies, has joined Telecast Fiber Systems as manager for sports business development. In his new role, Fordham will develop and maintain new and current business for the company’s fiber-optic systems for sports-broadcasting production, including solutions for mobile vehicles, stadiums, and arenas.

Fordham is a veteran sales professional in the mobile-broadcasting field, with more than 25 years of industry experience. He joins Telecast from Wohler Technologies, where he served as director of business development for video products. Fordham began his career in the broadcasting industry while attending the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he was director and technical director for the WBRC-TV evening news. Following product- and account-management positions at Sony, he then spent several years in the design, construction, and operation of mobile-broadcasting vehicles at Cross Creek Video, engineering live sporting events for ABC, NBC, CBS, ESPN, and Fox. He was also a marketing product specialist for broadcast equipment at PESA Switching Systems (now QuStream), where he served in various roles, including director of product development.

Fordham is a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), and the Sports Video Group (SVG). He will be based in Huntsville, AL, and will report to Richard Cerny, Telecast president/CEO.

“Telecast has a well-deserved reputation as the industry leader in tactical fiber solutions for broadcasting production, especially in the mobile sports environment. I had the pleasure of working with Telecast products in the field for many years, and I know they represent the best in quality and innovation,” says Fordham. “I’m excited to be able to bring my background in mobile broadcasting into the Telecast family, and I look forward to expanding our opportunities in this field.”

Says Cerny, “We could not be happier that Darren has decided to join us. There is a huge growth opportunity in fiber solutions for mobile sports broadcasting, and having a dedicated resource such as Darren, with his contacts, background, and sales pedigree, will be a huge asset to our company.”
