Suresh Vasudevan has been named Omneon president and CEO, joining the broadcast video server and storage company from NetApp where he served as senior vice president of product operations at NetApp, leading all product management and engineering for the NetApp product portfolio. Lawrence Kaplan, who has acted as interim president and CEO since last April, will now return to his role as vice chairman of the board.
“We are thrilled that Suresh has joined Omneon,” says Kaplan. “Suresh brings a great balance of leadership and product management knowledge to the company, and we look forward to his guiding Omneon to the next level.”
Vasudevan’s career at NetApp spanned nearly a decade. He held a number of senior executive positions, beginning in corporate development, moving on to lead product management, and eventually heading up all product operations. As a key driver of NetApp’s product strategy, he played an instrumental role enabling NetApp to successfully expand its product portfolio beyond the network-attached storage (NAS) market into the storage area network (SAN) and disk-based backup markets.
Prior to his tenure at NetApp, Vasudevan worked at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chicago as a senior engagement manager focusing on product marketing, operations, and marketing strategy.
Vasudevan says he looks forward to working with the entire Omneon team.
“Together we can set out to achieve even greater growth,” he says.
