The European Champions Hockey League hits its climax on Jan. 28 when the ZSC Lions of Zurich take on Russian team Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the final. Facilities are being coordinated by the Swiss subsidiary of Plazamedia, the biggest producer of sports television in Germany, which is working on behalf of production company TV Productioncenter Zurich.

Facilities include an OB truck provided by Wige Television, working in conjunction with fellow IMAGE MediaGroup member Outside Broadcast. Plazamedia Swiss is putting 19 Sony HD cameras into the Diners Club Arena in the Rapperswill area on the eastern shore of Lake Zurich to produce “spectacular perspectives.” Special cameras include a SportsCam HD, the “camera-moving system” developed by Plazamedia and TV Skyline, for the hothead and HD in-goal cameras.

The broadcast will be in 5.1 surround sound, mixed on a Lawo mc66 digital console. Other equipment includes five six-channel EVS video servers and a Grass Valley Kayak HD vision mixer. A crew of approximately 50 will be in the arena to cover the action.
