Super Bowl XLIII Broadcasts Globally in DTS Neural Surround

On Sunday, Feb. 1, DTS and the NFL partnered to deliver the HD
international broadcast of Super Bowl XLIII from Tampa, Florida,
using DTS Neural Surround technology, which enabled international TV viewers to
experience the game in 5.1 surround sound using any consumer surround sound
system.

A total of 61 international broadcasters televised the game
to 230 countries and territories in 34 languages (including English), with the
HD signal going to 19 broadcast partners in 152 countries.

“We are very pleased to be a part of the NFL’s efforts to
provide a great home entertainment experience to football fans around the
world,” says Jon Kirchner, President and CEO, DTS, Inc. “The NFL’s continued
support to international broadcasters coupled with DTS’ strong desire to deliver
the best entertainment experience possible makes this a win-win situation for
everyone.”

DTS Neural Surround provides a new approach to surround
sound production and playback for live broadcasts. It enables broadcasters to
create and deliver multi-channel surround sound using minimal bandwidth over
stereo channels. For Super Bowl XLIII, this technology allowed the NFL’s
on-site broadcast crews to produce the game in 5.1 surround sound while transmitting
the mix in a stereo format to audiences around the globe.
