Telecast Fiber to Intro HDX-3D at NAB

One of the hot trends at this year’s NAB convention will be gear for 3D production. Telecast Fiber, in response to the growing interest in 3-D HD production, has adapted its HDX hybrid elimination device to accommodate stereoscopic camera systems from Sony and Ikegami. Using local power, the HDX-3D provides power and optical connectivity to two camera heads making 3-D acquisition easier than ever. The new HDX also supports HD cameras from Thomson and Panasonic.

Also new this year at NAB will be Telecast Fiber’s new CopperHead INF camera-mounted fiber optic transceiver for the Thomson Grass Valley Infinity line. It allows for the Infinity camcorder to be used as both a camcorder and an HD-SDI multi-cam production camera.

The compact CopperHead INF fits between the Infinity camcorder and its battery, delivering bidirectional HD-SDI, composite video, audio, intercom, genlock, and camera control between the Infinity camera head and the remote base station over a single lightweight, battlefield-rated fiber optic cable. Optionally, remote powering of the camera is possible using SMPTE hybrid fiber cable. The 1-RU base station integrates easily into any studio, mobile truck, or portable flypack and plugs directly into the facility’s switcher, router, intercom, and house sync systems. In addition, the CopperHead INF system permits “iso-recording” on each Infinity camcorder’s internal REV-PRO drive during multi-camera productions, allowing for additional post-production editing without the need for expensive studio-style recorders.
Also new from Telecast is the new “Mini-Mussels,” universal enclosures for a series of modules that can be mixed and matched to provide highly customized, portable fiber optic solutions. Mussels come in single-, two-, or four-module sizes and have the features that customers have come to rely on such as integral optical power metering, informative system LED indicators, and an assortment of powering options.

Also look for new modules for the Adder II audio/data/intercom multiplexing system with a new strip for balanced AES (on XLR’s) and a data expansion module.

Telecast Fiber will be at booth SU8517.
