Gearhouse Broadcast Serves Up ATP Tour Tech

The ATP World Tour Masters 1000 gets under way on March 9 in Indian Wells, CA, and, for the first time, television coverage of all nine tournaments in the series will be produced in high-definition.

UK systems integrator and hire company Gearhouse Broadcast is supplying the equipment for each tournament on behalf of ATP Media. The basic system is a flyaway package comprising Sony HDC-1500 HD and HDC-3300 super-motion cameras, a Pro-Bel 288×512 HD-SDI router, Sony MVS 8400 vision mixers, and Harris interfaces. An EVS server will be used for logging, archiving, and playout to air.

Gearhouse Broadcast has worked on the ATP Masters Series for eight years. “The key brief,” says Group Technical Director Kevin Moorhouse, “is to deliver a consistent technical and production facility at every venue. The continuity of this service is imperative in making this a premier sporting event that is continually supported by world broadcasters.”

After Indian Wells, the tournament moves on to Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid, Montreal, Cincinnati, Shanghai, and Paris before culminating in the ATP World Finals in London during November.
