The American College Improves Efficiency With Ross

The American College, a financial-services educator located in Bryn Mawr, PA, upgraded its educational
broadcast studio to HD with Ross Vision 1 QMD Multi-Definition Production
Switcher and SoftMetal Video Server.

On-air since fall 2008, The American College had two goals for its HD
upgrade: efficiency and image. Vision offered the college versatility and ease of
use and was within the right price range. SoftMetal provided a tapeless
environment and the ability to store significant amounts of material.

“The Ross Vision gave us all the ins and outs our studio required, and we were quickly trained on the switcher,” says
Geoffrey Gundersdorf, director of digital media at The American College. “SoftMetal’s
features are ideal: during a live production, we can play back material out of
the server and record to it at the same time.”

The Ross production equipment was
recommended by Lerro Corp., a local dealer responsible for the design and
build of the HD studio.

The American College
produces a significant amount of material for the TheWealthChannel.com, an
online source of insight and knowledge into the creation of financial security
through the growth, protection, and distribution of savings and investments.

“The Ross equipment we have in-house
gives us a lot of flexibility,” Gundersdorf says. “We’re able to jump between
set and chroma-key shots very efficiently. The chroma-key abilities on Vision
are extraordinary. In conjunction with the CG capabilities, our studio has many
production advantages, and it shows in our product.”
