Chyron HyperX2 Serves Up ATP World Tennis Graphics via MOOV

Two flagship Chyron HyperX2 graphic systems are now in use by UK broadcast-graphics specialist MOOV to create on-air graphics for the new series of ATP World Tour tennis tournaments.

MOOV was commissioned by ATP Media to design all graphics for its rebranded ATP World Tour Masters 1000, ATP World Tour 500, and ATP World Tour 250 series tournaments. MOOV’s brief was to create a family of graphics that were modern and dynamic and would still look fresh after several years. Once this work was under way, MOOV was further asked to provide a graphics scoring system that could be used on all ATP World Tour 500 events, starting with the inaugural event in Rotterdam in February.

“We wanted a fresh, current look with 3D capabilities and a design with a shelf life of at least three years,” says Tennis Properties Ltd Head of Production Dominic Gresset. “I wanted a company who knew about designing graphics for live sporting events, and MOOV fit the bill perfectly. The result is state-of-the art graphics; a bright, fresh look; slick, smooth animations; and a new lease of life to our whole production.”

Adds MOOV Managing Director Duncan Foot, “We had to select a system that had a proven track record of quality and reliability, that was quick to create true 3D graphics and was easy to interface with. This really only gave us one option, Chyron’s HyperX2 with its Lyric PRO software. Moreover, Chyron has a global presence, which allows us to tap into additional resources in Europe, the Americas, and the Far East.”

MOOV and Chyron also worked with Piranha Graphics to deploy an interface that links directly with the tennis umpire’s own scoring PDA and simultaneously updates the graphics.

Says Foot, “The graphics created with HyperX2 have a very stylish 3D design with some great animations, but most important, they are very clear, no matter which format we output, whether it is NTSC, PAL, or the various HD formats.”
