TVIPS-AS Provides Seamless Redundant Switching Between Transmission Paths

T-VIPS AS will will launch the CP541 at NAB, providing seamless redundancy switching as part of the T-VIPS cProcessor product family of processing and monitoring solutions for MPEG-2 Transport Streams.

The CP541 enables seamless switchover between two MPEG transport streams. By monitoring at the signal level, as well as the equipment level, it ensures accurate and fast switchover, which is based upon fully customisable criteria and is automatic when errors are detected.

“By providing intelligent, automatic and seamless redundancy, the CP541 is perfect for anyone who needs to guarantee the secure delivery of MPEG-2 Transport Streams,” says Johnny Dolvik, CEO, T-VIPS. “A typical application is in satellite broadcasting systems, where the CP541 can look at the ‘fine details’ of the content such as the presence of components and PIDs to ensure the automatic selection of the best input. We’re also receiving a lot of interest from terrestrial broadcasters, for example DTT operators with Single Frequency Networks (SFN) can use the CP541 to implement redundancy through double network paths such as satellite and fibre. By adding intelligence to monitoring and switching we both protect the content owner and the operator – a win-win scenario.”

The CP541 intelligent switch-over solution provides the option of producing two additional ASI outputs which can be configured to any input or the seamless switched output. The CP541 also includes TR 101 290 specification error monitoring, provides a service log and has been designed to be highly user-friendly, with web-based XML remote control, SNMP agent control and integration with the T-VIP Connect management solution.

The key features of the CP541 include changeover between two input signals; two ASI inputs and one main ASI output; two additional configurable ASI outputs; and a CP541 output that is relay protected and current input will be passed through even in case of power loss or power supply failure.
