Daktronics Intros New HD Line of Sportsound Systems

Incorporating
technology improvements and the experience gained in designing and building
hundreds of sound systems for sports and public assembly venues over the past
decade, Daktronics introduces the Sportsound 1500HD and 2000HD sound systems.
Sound
quality has been enhanced significantly with the new systems. State of the art
speakers provide the full range of audio, from seat shaking bass to crisp highs
to natural sounding vocal reproduction. New high frequency lenses and complex
waveguides are incorporated into the design. High precision components, low
distortion, low latency, higher damping factor and broad consistent coverage of
entire sports venues including football, baseball and soccer, are the hallmarks
of the new systems.

expectations of the game-day experience have risen over the past several years,
there’s been greater demand for high-definition sound systems for venues of all
sizes, but especially for small and medium sized sports facilities,” says Dean
Dodge, national sales manager for the Sportsound product line. “The new
affordable 1500HD and 2000HD systems meet the needs of these types of venues,
as well as many others where high quality sound needs to be distributed over a
larger area.”
Another of
the key benefits of the new systems is the use of the latest digital amplifiers
and power supplies that require less power but deliver better sound. Efficiency
of the amps and power supplies exceeds 90 percent which makes for reduced power
costs, a cooler operation and enhanced product reliability. The new systems
feature global power ready to “plug in” and put to work nearly anywhere in the
world.
The 1500HD
and 2000HD systems are the first truly digital systems of their kind. Signal
transfer is accomplished digitally via Ethernet, and network connections allow
for easier management of audio content. Complete digital signal processing
protects speaker components and maximizes system performance. The systems use
20 bit/48k digital audio with fiber-optic communication between the control room
and speaker cabinet. A more capable and elaborate mixing console allows users
to tailor the response of individual inputs.
Both the
1500HD and 2000HD systems provide increased weather protection. Both cabinets
have an exterior panel system which is sealed at all seams to reduce vibration
effects and protect against water penetration. All internal speaker enclosures
have interior and exterior weather resistant coatings. In addition, all speaker
enclosures have integrated metal “grilles” to protect the internal components
from water and creature intrusion. Amplifiers are contained within each
speaker enclosure and include a polycarbonate hood to protect against water and
dust. All speaker connections have IP rated connectors and the power and signal
control is contained in a sealed outdoor rated enclosure.
Combined
with Daktronics scoreboard and video display options, the new systems will
deliver pounding bass energy, smooth mid and high range frequencies, and high
impact entertainment through the integration of audio, video and scoring
