CBS Atlanta Taps Ross To Complete HD Upgrade

CBS Atlanta
has selected Ross’ Vision 4 QMD-X Multi-Definition Production Switcher and
SoftMetal Video Server for their recent HD upgrade.

CBS Atlanta
is a Meredith Corporation-owned television station located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ross was chosen for Vision’s feature set and SoftMetal’s tight integration with
the switcher. CBS Atlanta is broadcasting local HD programming daily with Ross
since January, 2009.
“Vision’s
powerful features, ease of use, and ongoing free software and phone support
were major factors in our decision to go with Ross,” says Steve Flanagan, director
of broadcast operations and engineering, CBS Atlanta. “Another advantage was
SoftMetal and its ability to offer on the fly flexible channel configurations
and software CODECS. We are quite pleased with the performance of Vision and
SoftMetal, and the overall Ross support has definitely helped us to achieve our
goal to broadcast high quality newscasts in HD.”
“I’ve
viewed first hand CBS Atlanta’s local news productions and they’re the most
technically sound HD newscast in the market,” says David Ross, CEO, Ross Video.
“Ross plays a significant role in making their newscasts visually appealing. We
look forward to supporting their technical production needs.”
