Tampa Bay Rays Fans Enjoy the Sounds of Spring with Sportsound 1500HD System
Story Highlights
The Tampa
Rays have completed the 2009 spring training schedule at their new spring
training home in Port Charlotte, Fla. Fans there enjoyed the return of baseball
and the sounds of spring thanks to a new Sportsound 1500HD sound system,
designed and manufactured by Daktronics.
“Charlotte Sports Park
underwent a twenty-seven million dollar renovation and we are thrilled with the
results,” said Melanie Lenz, Vice President, Development and Business Affairs
for the Tampa Bay Rays. “Creating a great fan experience is paramount to our
organization and that includes every aspect of the ballpark including the sound
system. We are very pleased with what Daktronics has provided. Their sound
system definitely has enhanced the overall experience. Fans love it. It
distributes the sound very well, throughout the entire ballpark, including the
fixed seats, those sitting on berms, and all around our 360-degree baseball
boardwalk.”
Fans are
equally impressed with the new sound system. According to one of the fan hosts
who works as an usher at the ballpark, “We are all very proud and excited about
the new facilities we have here. We have a lot of innovation that you don’t
usually have in a minor league park. Fans recognize that the sound system is
very good. Everyone enjoys listening to it. It gets everybody pumped up during
the game.”
Daktronics
and its Sportsound® design group delivered a new 1500HD system to
the ballpark, installed in the outfield. The system uses the latest in digital
audio technology to deliver seat shaking bass, crisp highs and natural sounding
vocal reproduction. The system also operates on reduced power thanks to more
efficient digital amplifiers and power supplies. Its cooler operation and
improved weatherization also improve reliability.
“Expectations
for the game-day experience have risen dramatically during the last several
years, and part of that involves the audio experience,” said Dean Dodge,
National Sales Manager for the Sportsound product line. “Our new affordable HD
systems are a perfect fit for these types of venues, where high quality sound
needs to be distributed evenly throughout.”
Combined
with Daktronics scoreboard and video display options, Sportsound®
systems deliver pounding bass energy, smooth mid and high range frequencies,
and high impact entertainment through integration of audio, video and scoring
technologies. Daktronics is the only company that offers pre-manufactured
systems like these to provide the highest quality, reliability and value.
Over the
past few years, Daktronics has worked with the Tampa Bay Rays on improvements
to Tropicana Field as well. The facility now utilizes an integrated Daktronics
system that includes a large LED video display, LED ribbon boards, sound system
and control system. Daktronics has installed equipment in 26 Major League
ballparks and more than 100 Minor League facilities.
