White Sox Opener Boosts Comcast SportsNet

The Chicago White Sox and Comcast SportsNet both tasted victory Tuesday afternoon.

The network earned a 3.23 household rating for its live coverage of the team’s 4-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals in its regular season and home opener, reaching a 4.24 peak rating during the 3:15 p.m. quarter-hour (more than 148,000 households).

The network said Tuesday’s rating marked the highest ever for a White Sox Opening Day telecast on a regional sports network, topping the 2.38 it earned for the 2005 season opener versus the Cleveland Indians on April 4 of that year.

Comcast SportsNet said it was viewed by approximately 113,000 households for the entire game and it was the No. 1-rated TV network in the Chicago market Tuesday afternoon.
