Cobalt Digital, Linear Acoustic Team Up on 5.1 Surround Sound

Cobalt Digital incorporated Linear Acoustic’s upMAX surround-sound upmixing technology into its 9305 embedded audio-delay processor, allowing broadcasters to receive any stereo-pair source material and upmix it to 5.1 for storage or transmission.

The upMAX algorithm also includes Linear Acoustic’s new AutoMAX-II auto-detection algorithm, which automatically bypasses upmixing when the applied content is already 5.1.
