WBC Took Global Field with Intelsat

The World Baseball Classic used Intelsat’s satellite, fiber and teleport infrastructure to transmit the world feed coverage of the 2009 tournament to broadcast rightsholders throughout Asia, Latin America, North America and the Caribbean.

Intelsat, in conjunction with All Areas Access Communications, produced four HD and 11 standard-definition feeds, bringing more than 800 hours of baseball and 39 games to fans.

Intelsat delivered the games to the WBC’s International Broadcasting Center at the Rainbow Network Communications Center in Bethpage, NY. Once the post-production feeds were bundled with digital signage, the games were transported back to Intelsat teleports at Ellenwood, GA and Napa, CA, then uplinked to Intelsat’s satellites.
