HaiVision Intros h.264-Based Codec for 8,995

HaiVision Network Video is introducing the MAKITO codec, designed to future-proof network video installations, supporting SD and HD all the way up to 1080p60, at NAB next week.

The MAKITO has many of the advanced features of the HaiVision hai1000 MAKO-HD platform, including the ability to produce multiple stream resolutions from a single source (HiLo Streaming), sending high bit rate video to performance endpoints and lower-bandwidth video for mass consumption. With the MAKITO, the user needs only to “encode once,” using its powerful networking features combined with the ubiquity of H.264, to reach all possible viewers.

“The MAKITO enables a new generation of video users who have access to full HD capability over their networks. Only now with the introduction of the MAKITO can high definition be efficiently and affordably distributed, captured, and rebroadcast,” says Mirko Wicha, president and CEO of HaiVision Network Video.

The MAKITO strictly adheres to H.264 industry standards. It is compatible with a wide variety of video-over-IP systems, streaming servers such as Flash and QuickTime, set top boxes, and soft players including HaiVision’s “zero footprint” InStream™ desktop player.

The MAKITO is available as a compact appliance or in a mini-blade format. HaiVision’s new 4U rack-mount chassis can hold up to 21 MAKITOs making the MAKITO the ideal platform for high-density HD IPTV head ends.

The MAKITO will launch next week at NAB in Las Vegas, HaiVision booth SL4126.
