NewTek Hits NAB With HD/SD TriCaster, 3PLAY Replay System; Offers Upgrade Guarantee

Just in
time for the 2009 NAB show, NewTek has begun shipping 3PLAY, a multi-channel,
high definition/standard definition (HD/SD) instant replay system. NewTek 3PLAY
supports the simultaneous display, recording, and instant replay of up to three
video streams and four digital or analog audio streams per input. The native HD
device also supports both NTSC and PAL formats.

“We put
NewTek 3PLAY to the test during our NBA Development League All-Star events in Phoenix, and it exceeded
our expectations,” says Shawn H. Smith, vice president of business development
and chief marketing officer, NBA Development League. “Instant replay is a
cornerstone of the live sports experience and this device allowed us to replay multiple
camera angles on-the-fly that electrified the fans again and again. As a result
of our All-Star success, we will be utilizing the technology during our
D-League Finals beginning the end of next week.”
“This is a
technology breakthrough that allows us to shatter the price and performance barriers
for customers wanting access to portable, multi-channel, HD replay products,”
says Michael Kornet, chief marketing officer for NewTek. “Stadiums, production
trucks, broadcast facilities, universities, sports leagues and venues that
deliver live events can benefit from 3PLAY’s pristine HD, instant replays, slow
motion and delayed playback capabilities.”
NewTek
3PLAY’s price makes multi-channel, HD/SD slow motion replay available to a much
broader base of sports broadcasters, teams, leagues, schools, organizations,
and live remote producers. 3PLAY delivers synchronized, continuous recording
and display of up to three video streams. The system connects to any switcher
and supports the output of either a single stream or all three streams to the
switcher for complete flexibility in live production. Replays are easily
organized in separate lists using color coding to distinguish teams, players,
game periods, event types and highlights. 3PLAY supports NTSC and PAL in either
16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratios.

NewTek
3PLAY is available in North America at
$21,995, and internationally starting at
US$24,995. Educational pricing is also available.
Also showcased at the
NAB Show is NewTek’s TriCaster model XD300. Members of the press can schedule
an appointment for a personal demonstration of the XD300 at NewTek’s booth,
SL5014. The XD300 will redefine portable live production with benefits that
include HD/SD live switching, integrated live streaming, live virtual sets, an
efficient workflow and multiple effects layers. The XD300 will be selling in Q4
2009 at US$14,995 (NTSC). A multi-standard version will also be available.

As part of
NewTek’s NAB Upgrade Guarantee program, customers can trade up any TriCaster
portable live production system purchased between January 15 and June 27, 2009,
for full-purchase price credit toward any new TriCaster product introduced at
the 2009 NAB show.
“The
NewTek NAB Upgrade Guarantee is put in place to eliminate customer concern that
an upcoming model might be better suited for their portable live production
needs,” Kornet explains. “Now, customers can make a smart investment in
TriCaster and begin producing immediately, knowing that they have locked in
full trade-in value on their current TriCaster, should they choose to trade up
to a new model.”
