Aberdeen, CPC Develop Closed-Captioning for Sony XDCAM HD422
Story Highlights
Aberdeen Captioning teamed up with CPC to develop the first file-based closed-captioning system for Sony’s XDCAM HD422 tapeless technology.
The closed-captioning developer and the software developer say the new system uses Sony’s PDW-HD1500 optical deck and lead to faster turnaround times and a more cost- and time-efficient process.
When Aberdeen receives content from a client, it converts that content to a smaller “working file”—Windows or a QuickTime media file—which is used to do the transcribing, captioning, and timing.
The closed-captioning system is on display at NAB.
