For Coastal Media Group, It’s All in the Name

Coastal Satellite recently changed its company name to Coastal Media Group and, since then, has increased its reach by leaps and bounds.
“The name alone has helped bring in additional business that we didn’t have before because people thought we only had satellite trucks,” explains CEO Bob Adler. “As Coastal Media Group, we’re not only doing both SD and HD production, we’re also doing HD encoding and event management.”
For events where HD is required but dozens of cameras are not, Coastal Media Group’s HD production/SNG hybrid Ku truck, Truck One, is a feasible low-cost solution to begin deploying today.
“Our five-camera HD production satellite truck has been out on the road for a little more than a year,” Adler says. “It’s not going to replace the traditional mobile unit, but, whether the feed is going by satellite or is being connected into fiber at the stadium, this truck goes out for half the price of a mobile unit.”
Truck One comes equipped with a FOR-A eight-input HD/SD HVS-500 HS effects switcher and a 32-input Mackie Audio board, but the truck is highly flexible to help serve the changing needs of cash-strapped broadcasters.
“People are always trying to find a way to save money, so we tailor the truck for the client that wants to use it,” Adler says. “We’re trying to sell our client cost-effective equipment that will do the same job as the high-end gear but without the brand-name cost.”
