Ross Video Launches CrossOver 16

Ross Video made four major announcements at the NAB Show. CEO/owner David Ross reports the introduction of CrossOver 16, a control panel with 16 buttons, mnemonics, and macros. “It connects to the CrossOver 12 chassis and is a more powerful and easier upgrade path for CrossOver 12 customers,” he says. “The 16 buttons are particularly useful in live productions because it allows access to external and internal sources in the switcher without pressing the shift button.” The mnemonics feature makes it easy to personalize the set-ups of the switcher from show to show, using the real names of the sources, and the macros put big switcher power and control into a small package.

Ross Video is also showing a ClearComm intercom module integrated into its Vision Video Production Switcher line. “This brings intercom controls within easy reach of the TD operating the switcher,” says Ross. “The size of the panel is only limited by the length of the operator’s arm, and access to the intercom, which isn’t part of the control panel, can be difficult.”

AI memory recalls is a new patent pending concept that is effective in 1 M/E switchers. “What AI memory recalls do is look at the resources currently on-air, look at what the operator needs to do next and repositions the effect on the M/E into the resources currently available on the fly,” he says. “It’s shuffling resources into available spaces without affecting the on-air picture, making it effortless to recall any memory regardless of what’s currently on air.”

Ross Video also announced that its OverDrive Automated Production Control System and Vision Video Production Switcher will be installed in two newly constructed regional television facilities operated by CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s national public broadcaster.
