Gepco Expands Fiber Compatibility

By Carolyn Braff

New for this year’s NAB show, Gepco International has increased its compatibility resources, extending the company’s reach into a broader range of fiber-assembly flavors.

“Over the last few years, there’s been more and more use of fiber, so we’ve expanded our capabilities to include new assemblies,” says Scott Fehl, product development and marketing manager.

Those new assemblies include the Neutrik OpticalCon and Amphenol TAC-4 and TAC-12 case assemblies. Gepco is one of just two U.S. distributors that can terminate custom lengths of tactical fiber cables with Neutrik’s OpticalCon connectors.

“We want people to know that they can come to us as a one-stop shop for all of their broadcast and fiber needs,” Fehl says. “We’re specifically focused on broadcast. There are other companies out there that do general fiber for telecom, but we are focused on the formats that are used in broadcast applications.”

With the two additions, Gepco’s fiber-solutions library now encompasses SMTPE 304M hybrid fiber camera cables (using Lemo or Canare brand connectors), ST/SC/LC multimode or single-mode snakes, indoor permanent-installation cables, and tactical and portable-use cables.

Also on display at Gepco’s NAB booth is the V-CON connector system, designed to withstand the environmental challenges of outdoor-broadcast and mobile-production applications. The V-CON connectors are currently shipping, available in three- to six-channel versions, as well as 10-, 12- or 16-channel versions.
