Pixelmetrix Updates DVStor Platform

By Adam Goldberg

Pixelmetrix (Booth SU2007) announced an update to the DVStor platform, allowing storage of full MPEG-2 transport streams, including all system information and ancillary data of more than 30 days by transrating MPEG-2 video to lower data rates.

The increased storage capacity is accomplished by storing the MPEG-2 transport stream with the video transrated to 512 kbps or 256 kbps. Current models can simultaneously transrate one HD and one SD stream or three SD streams.

The DVStor records the entire transport stream continuously, enabling users to examine precisely what was broadcast at any time during the recorded period — including all metadata, closed captions, and PSIP data. The DVStor can play back recordings via an ASI output directly to transport stream or other analysis equipment. Recordings from specific time periods may be saved from overwriting or transferred for offline analysis.

The 1RU, 2TB DVStor with transrating is available now for $9,995.
