Intelsat 22 Targeted for 1Q 2012 Launch

Intelsat plans to launch its Intelsat 22 satellite during the first quarter of 2012. The new bird will reside at 72 degrees east longitude orbital location over the Indian Ocean region, and it will supply 48 C- and 24 Ku-band 36-megahertz-equivalent transponders to network services and media customers in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Intelsat 22 will feature custom-tailored beams to meet traffic patterns in these high-demand regions, as well as host a specialized UHF payload for the Australian Defence Force.
