Front Porch Digital: Archival Tennis Footage, Anyone?

The International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport, RI, will use Front Porch Digital’s SAMMA Solo system to migrate 2,700 hours of archival footage currently on videotape to secure digital storage.

Front Porch says SAMMA Solo migrates analog video content into multiple file-based formats simultaneously in real-time, and preservation quality is assured by using its JPG 2000 lossless format. The process also preserves source timecode and associates indexing and technical metadata.

The oldest footage in the museum’s collection is from the 1920s and features Hall of Famers Helen Wills and Suzanne Lenglen.
