ESPN Warms Up for NCAA Division I Baseball Championship

The ESPN family is set to air up to 55 games in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship May 2-June 24, including complete coverage from two regional and all eight super regional sites and every College World Series game.

ESPNU will present both regional series in HD on ESPNU HD. And for the seventh consecutive season, ESPN and ESPN2 will team up to air the entire Men’s College World Series from Omaha, NE, June 13-24, including the best-of-three Series Final, with every game in HD on ESPN HD or ESPN2 HD.

Coverage will begin Friday, May 29, with four regional games from two sites on ESPNU. The Tallahassee, FL, site will include Ohio State vs. Georgia at noon ET and Marist vs. Florida State at 4 p.m. The Irvine, CA, site will be highlighted by San Diego State and pitcher Stephen Strasburg—who is 13-0 with a 1.24 ERA and expected to be the No. 1 overall draft pick in the upcoming MLB Draft—vs. Virginia at 7 p.m. and 2008 College World Series Champion Fresno State vs. UC Irvine at 11 p.m.

ESPN is also taking the social-networking route, providing updates via Facebook and Twitter.

And the network will provide players from eight teams—UC Irvine, Georgia, Florida State, Texas, Cal State Fullerton, LSU, North Carolina, and Arizona State—with flip cameras to document their experiences. Their footage will be available on ESPN.com and Facebook.
